Questions & Answers
Hi, we have just purchased the retreat 280 & compass hub, have watched the pitching videos & been in store to check the set up. But can’t see the clips you talk about in previous comments. Are they on door pole casing? can you post a photo please.
Asked by: Vicki66
The clips should be on the tent to clip into the hub. I am sorry i do not have a photo of this, If you can find a set up that has the module tent attached to the hub then you will see the clips.

What are the dimensions of the solar panel ceiling pocket? So I know which size solar panel to buy.
Asked by: JohnJohnJohn
There is plenty of room in these pockets for your solar panel, it will easily fit both the Goal Zero Nomad 7 Plus and 14 Plus.

We brought the 280 tent and also the compass retreat and were told we can join them as the photos show but for the life of me I can not find anywhere that’s shows how to do it can you please advise ? I look forward to hearing from you.
Asked by: Chisel
I thought the same rang the shop as there are no clips on the tent. They confirmed the tent only slips into some & pegs into floor. Definitely no clips on tent like we were told by tech team.

How does the Solar charging ceiling pocket work? What accessories do I need?
Asked by: Jackie Weng
You will need to purchase a solar panel of some sort. This pocket is designed so that you can put your solar panel in the sun while still being inside the tent. It does not come with a solar panel, sorry about this!

Could you set up with one person?
Asked by: Dan E
This could be possible but may be difficult when tensioning the poles. We recommend at least 2 people for pitching this tent

Loved this tent.I bought Retreat 280 tent for my family of 3(2+1). After one time practice, I was very comfortable to pitch it(videos are very helpful). It has very spacious room and living area, most importantly the entire tent is enclosed. So if you zip up all the doors no insect can get in even in your living area(unlike Retreat 150 which has just the bedroom enclosed, and living area can be accessible through the ground). Packing up is also easy and I was able to put it back in the provided bag. I would recommend first time campers to watch the pitching and packing-up video and give a dry run before the real camping.

Very poor quality, not made like they used toPurchased this model approximately four years ago. Has perished to the point there are rips appearing, two poles have broken and guy ropes ripped off the tent. Very disappointing as the previous Kathmandu tent we owned for 15 years before requiring an upgrade due to larger space required.

Just the right size for our downsizingBrought this tent last week and used it straight on a family camp for scouts. We currently have the 360 and its just too big for us now that our son has gotten bigger and doesn't sleep in it. We have had the 360 for 6 years and have had no problems with it, just too big and has been through storms and winds etc. I was able to put the 280 up and down by myself with only a person to help with the holding of the black poles on raising the tent. Overall the tent has lots of room for everything and i mean everything. Will be using it again for 5 days at Easter and should be all good. Great Tent. Took us 12 months to buy after reviewing and looking at lots of alternatives.

Good family spacePurchased the 280 tent when previous tent was destroyed in a wind gust while we were out. This tent has good stability and peg down points all around.
Good space for sleeping in and eating and playing in on a wet day.
Thinking of adding a module for more space when cap ground area is big enough or when we just want a wind break for a picnic

So far so good!We looked around at various designs and wanted something decent that was comfortable for the family - 3 of us. Even though this sleeps up to 5 people it meant that we have more than enough space between us. We even purchased the Kathmandu children’s bunks and put that in one end where our daughter sleeps on top, and we store our bags on the bottom bunk. The tent itself was easy to put up, and fairly straight fwd to pack away, although I would say that nothing is ever as easy to get back in the bag as it comes out. The tent has plenty of little pockets and vents to keep it fresh, so it doesn’t get stuffy. Overall, after our first camping trip, it did the job and we are thankful that we spent a bit more to get a quality tent.

Does the job.Was looking for a big lightweight tent that was easy to setup. This met the spec. It was windy when we were camping. The tent stood up to the highwinds, but needed all the guy ropes well anchored. Other tents in the camp ground failed in the wind. It is a good summer ten, albiet noisy in the wind.
