TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) is the next step in the evolution of coating applications. While PVC (polyvinyl chloride) still gets the job done well, TPU has out-rated it in comparison tests. TPU is lighter, stronger, less likely to de-laminate or deflate and more durable the PVC.

"We have used the TPU Air bed last December on our camping for 3 nights and the bed never deflate. I would highly recommend this product from Kathmandu!"

Roof top tent saviour
"Ideal for roof top tents, swags etc. My partner and I opted for this over the foam mattress and it is ideal. Deflated, it is paper thin so it can stay in the roof top tent and does not interfere with packing it up. Inflated, it maintains the air, zero deflation and therefore a comfortable nights sleep. We use an electric pump and it inflates in seconds. A must buy. P. s I am Kathmandu member, purchased on sale and redeemed loyalty voucher, money saver."

Love this mattress!
"I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I've had this mattress for 3 years now. It's travelled around Europe with me in my suitcase - The fact that it was so light is amazing. I love camping and have taken this on multiple camping trips - whilst everyone else complains about their mattresses deflating - I have never had an issue. It's a very comfortable nights sleep. If just using the mattress on the ground- a wool blanket or something is needed to block the cold from the ground- but given the thickeness that is not surprising. Recently also purchased a short double stretcher to try with it - but its not necessarily needed. I honestly couldn't recommend this mattress more! Well worth buying - you won't be disappointed."

- I weigh 160kg..would it be able to take that kind of weight..
- Yes, this has a 200kg loading capacity.
- Does the double air bed fit in the door of the Retreat 40 2 person tent when fully inflated?
- No it doesn't, it would need to be inflated inside the tent or half inflated and then placed inside to inflate the rest of it to fit inside the Retreat 40.
- is the top a flocked covering or just straight on the plastic?
- It is not a flocked covering, just the TPU plastic.
