This large free-standing beach shelter also has an extendable floor that can be closed off by zipping shut (with lockable zips). UVE 95%+ This main woven shade fabric provides 95%+ UV protection according to AS 4174. High UVE ratings should not be relied upon as the only form of sun protection. "This is a great shelter - we used it at the beach and it was easy to set up and provides plenty of shade. You can even stand up in it (depending on your height), but there is plenty of room for belongings plus the family. Makes going outdoors less of a worry with plenty of shade in places where there is none. Highly recommend."

"This is a great shelter, but unfortunately the main dome pole on ours snapped due to strong wind at the beach and the material the pole was made of shredded into sharp long shards, and we ended up getting multiple tiny splinters in our fingers - not sure how you change that but it was definitely a little dangerous to handle."

Yes, it's intended to be easy to set up and pack away and will be easier the more you do it.
What do you use to apply the supplied patches to the shelter?
Depending on the rip, these patches are ideally to be stitched on by a repair agent. However, if you want to glue this on I would recommend using the Gear Aid Seam Grip. You can find this glue either online or in any Kathmandu Store.

  • This woven shade fabric provides 95%+ UV protection according to AS 4174. When shade fabric is used for purposes such as shade structures for human protection, the ultraviolet effectiveness (UVE) may not be an accurate guide to the protection provided and may be less than the measured value due to factors including variations in design, height and size of shade structures, stretching of the fabric, the distance of the fabric from the persons, the direction of sunlight, and the physical location of the persons within the shade structures (e.g. at the edge or at the centre).
Care instructions

  • Make sure all parts are completely dry before storage
  • Hand wash only when necessary
  • Do not machine wash
  • Use non-detergent soap with a soft-bristled brush or sponge
  • Rinse well and dry in a ventilated area out of direct sunlight
