Warranty
- We take extraordinary measures so your Leatherman product will give you many years of dependable service. If it doesn't, we will gladly repair or replace it, if necessary. When a product is out of production, we will replace it with another product at our discretion, under our 25-year guarantee. This warranty does not cover abuse, alteration, theft, loss, or unauthorized and/or unreasonable use of your Leatherman product. This warranty does not cover sheaths, accessories, imprinting, colour finishes, cleaning, or sharpening.
Care instructions
Cleaning
- Depending on what your Leatherman has been exposed to, there are several cleaning methods to consider.
- Use a low viscosity oil (e.g., WD-40) to help force out moisture trapped in the joints.
- Buff stained surfaces with a polishing cloth or non-metallic abrasive.
- Use a suitable lubricant to make your tool function as smoothly as possible.
- If debris or sticky substances have accumulated between the blades, your Leatherman may also be cleaned in a mild solution of detergent and water.
- To remove tar and similar substances, clean your Leatherman with turpentine or other mineral spirits.
- Warning: acetone or brake cleaners may damage plastic components.
- Corrosion can occur in the absence of proper maintenance.
- Your Leatherman product should be cleaned, dried and re-lubricated periodically to inhibit rust and corrosion, especially if your Leatherman has been exposed to salt water or marine environments. If so, rinse in fresh water, dry, and lubricate it with a light oil.
Sharpening
- Straight-edged blades can be sharpened using any standard equipment, including whetstones, rods, and various kits.
- Leatherman’s standard sharpening angle for plain edge blade sections is 32° (16° per side).
- Serrated blades require a sharpening system specifically designed to accommodate serrated edges in order to maintain the curvature of the serrations.
- Sharpen serrated blades only on the edged side to 20°. Sharpening the flat (back) side of the blade will cause the serrations to wear away, reducing the blade’s effectiveness.

Returns
Returning an item
We offer 60-day returns in New Zealand for change of mind as long as all items are unused, in original packaging (with tags attached), and you have proof of purchase.
