Water-based DWR's simply don't work.
"Nikwax, Grangers, Revivex and even Scotchguard. . . having used all of them (wash-in and spray-on) in the last 6 months in a futile effort to restore/improve the DWR on a 6-month old Berghaus MTN Guide Pro jacket that has only seen a dozen rainy commutes in Auckland. . . none of them do a relaible or effective job of renewing/improving the DWR. All fail or wear off in a matter or weeks or a coupe of wears of day pack. All water-based DWRs are simply useless even if you follow the diretcions fanatically! The only one that worked anywhere near reliably was Fibretec, but unfortunately the German/Swiss suppliers do not ship to NZ. I long for the days of C8 (or even C6) products. Sure they poison the planet and all life - but it didn't make me regret spending $1500 on a shell that wets out in mins and soaks me from the inside out every time I wear it."

- I have a bottle of this at home and want to know if it can be applied to my new winterburn womans ankle boots to help protect them from water when walking in snow? if i can use it can i spray it onto them dry or do i need to wet them first?
- This is recommended for clothing rather than footwear, we sell a Grangers Footwear Repel which would be better suited to that and the guidelines are to spray onto a freshly cleaned and damp footwear.
- can it be used on a down jacket?
- This is designed to revive an older waterproof garment, if the down jacket has waterproof material then this would be suitable. If the down jacket does not have waterproof material then the Grangers Down Wash Concentrate would be recommended as this is not a spray on waterproof treatment. The down wash will remove dirt, restore loft, neutralise odours and revitalise water repellency.

- No it will not.

- Yes, it can be used on walking shoes to add a water repellency layer.
- How long does Granger's Repel take to dry?
- Typically 30 minutes is all the time needed.
