UPF 50+ sun protection clothing

Kathmandu's UPF 50+ sun protection clothing is designed to block 98.2% of harmful UV rays, giving you consistent protection throughout the day, without the need for constant sunscreen reapplication on covered areas.

What is UPF?

UPF stands for ultraviolet protection factor, and it measures how well a fabric protects your skin from the sun’s UV radiation. Like SPF in sunscreen, the higher the UPF rating, the greater the protection. UPF protects against both UVA and UVB rays, and a UPF 50+ garment blocks 98.2% of UV radiation.

Why choose UPF 50+ clothing?

Not all clothing protects you from the sun. Unlike standard fabrics, Kathmandu UPF 50+ clothing delivers maximum defense for outdoor adventures, combining sun protection, comfort and performance.

The UPF rating applies only to the area of skin covered. Protection may be reduced if the material is wet, stretched or from the effects of normal wear or exposure to chemicals. For best sun protection use hats, clothing that provides maximum coverage, sunglasses, sunscreen and shade.
