The Lansan Ultralight is perfect for people who want a weatherproof, lightweight and highly-spec'd tent, not a theme park with poles. This 2-person tent is designed for light and fast hiking, cycle-touring and travel. It’s simple and streamlined, with super-lightweight materials that meet our demanding performance standards, making it an excellent safeguard from the elements. Take it with you while tramping into the interior, or pack it up to explore new countries. This lightweight tunnel tent is quick and easy to set up, with DAC Featherlite NSL alloy poles. The breathable inner can be pitched on its own in fine weather, or combined with the waterproof, seam-sealed fly-sheet. An added vestibule means there’s plenty of space for two people and their gear. It’s everything you need, with nothing extra to weigh you down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Waterproof I've had this tent for a few years and it's been great! It doesnt come with quite enough tent pegs! But I've camped in windy conditions and its been great! And its super waterproof! Completely dry camping in 15cm of rain and woke up in a puddle!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great but needs groundsheet! Good so far - lightweight!! haven't tested in heavy rain. However it needs a groundsheet because water seeps through with just a damp ground.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Great I have owned 3 Kathmandu tents previously, and have in each case found they exceeded expectations. The Lansan was a replacement for a Northstar which had done 25 years of really solid service all over the world - from desert to alpine conditions. I took the Lansan tent hiking in very mild conditions over summer, and it did not meet even basic expectations. The floor material is not sufficiently waterproof, and even dew on the grass left the inside of the floor feeling damp. The tunnel design means every guy rope and peg must be very carefully placed and tightened to ensure the fly does not touch the inner - a long and fiddly process. The tent is certainly lightweight, but I compared the Lansan to other even lighter (albeit more expensive) tents which others were using on the same hike, and the competition had drier floors, easier pitching and good fly/inner separation. If you need a mission-critical lightweight tent, spend a little more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 7 years and still hard to beat! Bought in 2012, I have the green version. Weighs and looks the same elsewise. Stands up to serious wind, frost and is toasty warm. With one or even 2 persons, the condensation has not been too bad, pegging out everywhere, tautly is key. As a two person tent, its a little cumbersome being a tunnel design, but as a 1 person, its a 1.7kg super practical and roomy shelter. Very quick to put up and pack down. My seam tape on my inner tent is looking perished but I will DIY that before the next rainy camp.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect for one Bought this the other day as a hunting tent. Packs up small super light and easy to set up pack up. Took it out over the weekend for 2 nights of which both days it rained consistently and only real issue was when I opened the fly to get in or out the opening is is past the tent opening and allows rain directly in the tent. I also wouldn't call it a 2 person tent if you have gear as well as my pack needed to be beside me but works for me for what I want

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Four years and still going strong I bought this tent four years ago and it's seen multi day hikes, cycling tours in both rainy, midgey Scotland and hot, dry Morocco, where it was sometimes tricky to find soft enough ground to peg it down but we managed. If you're often on rocky or hard ground I'd consider a freestanding tent but I like the security and have never had real issues finding somewhere to pitch. It's small and light enough that I have no qualms throwing it in my bag on trips where I'm not 100% sure I'll do any overnight hikes. It's never leaked, goes up in minutes and I find there's plenty of room for two people - my boyfriend is 6'2" and I'm 5'9". We usually put our packs in the vestibule but if it's raining they fit just fine at our feet. It's nice to be able to sit up properly at one end. I've just sent it off for its first repair - the insect netting has torn right where it connects to the zip though I think this is actually a drunken tumble from a mate who borrowed the tent for trip with her football team rather than any actual fault with the tent. I often read reviews from people who have taken their gear on just one trip so wanted to come back a few years later and say it's still going strong, cause that's always the review I want to read!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lightweight hiking tents for family hike We bought these as family Christmas presents and did our first overnight hike on the weekend. These tents are great, light weight easy to set up and never got wet with the overnight rain. Love these and hoping for many more years of use to come.

How should the tent be stored when not in use? Rolled up in the tent bag it came in or loosely (i.e. in a pillow case)?

Asked by: LaurenH85
While the stuff sack/ tent bag will protect your tent in the car, it’s best to transfer your tent into something loose and breathable at home. By storing your tent in a pillowcase, you’ll allow the tent material to relax and breathe which can minimise the threat of mould. Avoid storage in hot, humid areas, like an outdoor garage, and store it somewhere dry and cool, like your hallway cupboard. Make sure that your tent is bone dry before putting it away.
