Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what I hoped Used this product as directed, you need to use a lot of it, after using the same brand wash product prior. Has only marginally restored some water proof-ness to my jacket. Wanted to extend the life of an otherwise perfectly good rain jacket (breathable, waterproof) but would not say this worked - based on using the jacket in the rain again. Might work better on some jackets than others? Maybe use the spray on product instead? (But I don't want to keep buying and trying products as that defeats the point)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So easy to use. Had tried other, similar products but was always disappointed with the results. I found this product both easy to use and effective.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work I have a Kathmandu waterproof ngx2 jacket thats about 3 years old and the water would bead off when it was new. Rather than buy a new jacket I though I would try this to see if restores the water repellent qualities. It didnt make any difference. I tried another wash and also used the Performance Repel Spray. Again, no difference. Save yourself the $60 and buy a new jacket or a rain coat.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works, but requires effort I complained about this product the first time I wore it out, but then after reading online about DWR, I learned that you need to iron the garment (low heat) afterwards. After drying it, THEN ironing it, the repellency came back. The product works, but it takes a lot of time and effort. This is definitely a "once-a-year on a weekend" project.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work at all. Terrible. Decided to try this because they didn't have the techwash in store... Used 2 full bottles for 5 items... Followed all instructions perfectly using their recommended product to pre wash the gear... Not water repellent at all... 0/10

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not work - going back to NixWax I bought this yesterday in store as recommended by staff to rewaterproof an ngx kids jacket. Absolutely useless - just tested the jacket after a wash and dry and it is no repelling any water at all. Going back to using NixWax as that has always worked in the pas. Will be heading in store for a refund!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked for me I bought this product and followed the instructions which included either ironing or putting the jacket through the cool setting on the dryer after using it. I just tested it and it worked fine.

Does this work on down jackets?

Asked by: SL12
This will restore the DWR coating on down jackets, however it will not make a down jacket fully waterproof.

Hi, given the punishing reviews below, is there any intention of explaining why it might work so well for some and so poorly for others? Someone mentioned ironing, someone else mentioned using a dryer? Maybe some comprehensive instructions ( Daan didn’t..

HOW TO USE •Use 2 x 50ml caps per large item, or two smaller items. Use half a cap if hand washing. •For best results we recommend reproofing garments separately. •Pour product directly into the detergent drawer of your Washing Machine. •Wash on a full cycle at 30°C/86°F or according to care label instructions. A key thing to note is that these solutions need a bit of heat at the end to activate the DWR. You do not want to put a fully soaking jacket into the dryer, we recommend air drying naturally and then depending on the Care Instructions, popping it into the dryer for the last 20 or so minutes of drying.
