Mummy

Mummy bags, with their wider cut shoulders and narrow feet are the most efficient when it comes to weight and warmth. These bags conform more closely to your shape and only require minimal body heat to warm up. They encase you ‘like a mummy’ and may be restrictive and less roomy than other bags.

Semi-Rectangular

Semi-Rectangular bags with their tapered foot (more room than the Mummy) and contoured hood are a good compromise. These bags provide ample sleeping space at the torso for comfort.

Rectangular

Rectangular types offer more space and are cooler than others, letting you move easily within the bag. Because of the larger top opening, heat can escape more easily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don’t hesitate purchasing this sleeping bag I had the best nights sleep in my tent without having to wear multiple layers on an Autumn night. The size in all directions was perfect for a tall person. I would recommend this sleeping bag and money well spent

Rated 1 out of 5 by from absolutely freezing I bought this bag a few years ago and was so excited to finally have a warm lightweight sleeping bag for hiking. Since than I have been on many hikes all above 0 degrees (mostly 4 degrees at night time) and I am so cold I start shivering. Any ideas as to why this bag is not at all working for me would be great! And yes I wear layers of thermals and have a 4 season tent

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So warm I have only used it once but love it. Its everything I expected- warm, light weight, easy to pack and store. It doesn't pack down as small as I would like but that's to be expected for the warmth rating. Very comfortable and hope it holds up to the colder weather

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sleeping bag!!! I bought this 3 weeks ago for my trip to India, found it excellent, I traveled from hot temperatures (25 + degrees C), to cold (down to 0 degrees C) in the Himalayas and it was really great in both climates. I am so glad that I bought this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So warm I finally purchased a proper sleeping bag and my only regret is I didn’t do it sooner. This sleeping bag is so soft and warm. When camping with others, they were saying they were a bit cold at night while I was snug and warm, which is unheard of for me as I am always the cold one! Absolutely love it!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good, light sleeping bag. Only problem is that I did not realise it was women's sized bag so it is too tight around the shoulders.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Coz it's warm and fluffy! I got this sleeping bag just in time for a winter camping trip in the Victorian high country. What a difference having a quality winter sleeping bag makes! I was warm and comfortable every night! It did make it hard to get up in the cold mornings though!

How many grams of down does this bag contain please? I am trying to compare with an old Kathmandu bag which contains 850g of goose down to understand comfort level of the old bag and if this bag would be warmer.

Asked by: fishy
This sleeping bag contains 472 grams of RDS Duck Down.

Hi there - just wanting to check since there are mixed reviews with the warmth rating for different Kathmandu sleeping bags. I'm going trekking in the NT in winter, so overnight it will be at least below zero (says around -3--5). How is the warmth?

Asked by: Ashleighhiker
I just finished the Alpine Crossing with -2 - -5 overnight temps - unfortunately this sleeping bag didn’t quite cut it. I was freezing even with a liner.

Hi can you please clarify for me that this is 650gms fill down. Thanks

Asked by: Beni
650 duck down fill does not represent 650grams of down fill. The 650 represents the quality of down in the bag ie. the higher the down rating the better quality and more warmth the down loft power has.

Is this sleeping bag suitable for a damp weather camping compared to Icarus Hybrid Sleeping bag?

Asked by: Rebecca10
Both the Columbus and the Icarus have a Durable water repellent finish on the fabric to help any water bead and roll off the bag. The Columbus has full Down fill and the Icarus has Down fill throughout the body and then Synthetic fill through the Foot of the sleeping bag. The synthetic fill helps prevent moisture build up around your feet.

Is the zip full length?

Asked by: Zach25
Yes this is a semi-rectangular bag and has a full length zip down the side and a second zip across the base of the bag at the feet so that you can open up the bag to walk or even unzip completely to use as a blanket/duvet.
