Be part of Nepal’s recovery

Donate now to the Australian Himalayan Foundation, which is focusing on rebuilding education centres and returning kids to school.

Australia Himalayan Foundation

Following in the footsteps of Sir Edmund Hillary, whose lifework was devoted to giving back to the Sherpa community, the Australian Himalayan Foundation was founded in 2002 with the aim of making a positive contribution to the wellbeing of the people of the Himalayas.

Kathmandu became community partners with the AHF in 2011, in recognition and support of the region that inspired our brand.

We primarily support the flagship Teacher Training and Quality Education program in the Everest Region, which provides quality educational training. This program supports over 42,000 children in approximately 300 schools and provides training for more than 1700 teachers, ensuring these children receive the type of education that can lift them out of poverty.

Since the devastating earthquake in April 2015, the AHF have been working to provide the most practical and direct assistance possible to those affected by the disaster. As Nepal begins to rebuild after this disaster, education more than ever will be critical to the country’s recovery. When a community receives access to education, it can change just about everything. It can give kids and entire families a better future, improve health and grow local economies.

Summit Club Exclusive Treks

As well as financial contributions, each year we invite our Summit Club members on an adventure to trek through the spectacular Himalayas and visit these Sherpa communities while raising funds for the AHF. In 2016 we introduced a volunteer component to our Nepal treks, enabling our Summit Club members to get hands on and help rebuild a school.
