We’re a leader in adopting B Corp’s enhanced ESG certification standards
We’ve recertified as a B Corp, this time under B Lab’s new certification standards. B Corp Certification means Kathmandu meets verified standards for social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.
We’re proud to be one of the first in New Zealand to recertify under the new standards. We’ve been a B Corp since 2019, and for us it’s about continually lifting the bar on what good looks like.
Why it matters
People increasingly want confidence that the brands they support are considering their impact on people, communities and the planet. B Corp certification provides independent verification that businesses are meeting recognised social and environmental standards. It’s a globally recognised benchmark that helps build trust with consumers.
What it looks like for us
Our sustainability approach is focused on creating positive impact for people and the planet. Sustainability is embedded across every area of Kathmandu, from governance through to policy and operations, as a way of working that is both empowering and a source of pride for our team.
Our REDU programme, which repairs and restores Kathmandu garments and gives them a new life under a REDU label, has been an especially powerful tool in our circularity efforts, for both customers and our team. Since its launch in 2023, over 11,000 garments have been given a second life.
Our New Zealand store network is also committed to recycling soft plastic, with 19,000kg diverted through our partnership with the Packaging Forum.
We’ve also expanded our commitment to regenerative farming practices using ZQ+ merino, focused on improving soil health and biodiversity while maintaining animal welfare and traceability.
Looking ahead
There’s always more work to be done, and we’re excited about the work ahead.
Recertifying as a B Corp under these more rigorous standards gives us momentum to keep improving and pushing ourselves to do better over time.
