exLIGHT Exoskeleton Explained: Lightest carry-on luggage design

When our design team began developing the original Feather Flight Carry-On, they weren’t trying to chase a trend. They were solving a problem we all know too well: luggage that feels heavy before you’ve even packed it. Most best carry on luggage weighs 3 - 4kg. The Feather Flight Carry-On changes that at just 1.6kg, the lightest carry-on luggage on the market.

How the exLIGHT Exoskeleton Works

Our patent-pending exLIGHT exoskeleton technology has changed the conversation.

Instead of reinforcing the entire frame, the team created a patent-pending exoskeleton. A lightweight lattice that strengthens the places that take the most impact while keeping the rest flexible and featherlight. It’s how the 40L earned its 2024 ISPO Award, celebrated for redefining what lightweight carry-on luggage could be.

The new spinner models use two exoskeletal shells to form a complete hardshell case, offering durability. Larger check-in sizes were re-engineered with stronger stress points and a dual-wide handle system for stability on bigger journeys.

And through every style, the materials stay consistent: 93% recycled ripstop nylon infused with 7% UHMWPE, a fibre trusted in climbing gear and personal armour. Strong, light and ready for anything.
