Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cool yet sun protective Living with melanoma in tropical north Queensland has me always seeking protective clothing that is cool to wear for our hot, sticky summers. This is perfect: it's cool, the high collar with hood offers good neck protection, the underarm mesh keeps it breathing, the fabric travels so very well, AND it is a lovely flattering cut that is still feminine in its silhouette. Great for everything from wandering the markets to hiking with my camera; playing sport or going for a beach walk. My only wish is for more light colours such as grey or oatmeal; the dark blue is a bit warm for day wear, though it has the advantage of not showing the dirt as obviously as the white one does.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from loving the outdoors again I bought this top because the sun makes me sick and i live in sunny qld. Usually long sleeves and hot days are a terrible combination so I'll stay in the shade. This top is sun safe, cute and it keeps me cool. I'm so happy I'm going to buy the blue one too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My search is over, this top has it all I now have 4 of these, 2 in white and 2 dark blue (only colours available for women). I have been looking for ages for a hiking top that will keep me cool enough if it gets unexpectedly warm - it had to have long sleeves, perfect coverage around the neck and chest area, not clingy, lightweight....and great styling. Not asking much? Well, with a high SPF rating, and quick dry, this top has it all. My only request to Kathmandu is to please make the same top with the option of no hood (but keep the high upright neck), and to expand the colour range - white looks fabulous but it's no good for multiday hikes with a pack! My white ones already have permanent marks on the back from my pack. How about some less drab colours - turquoise, fuschia, red, light blue, or two-tone? Looking forward to trying them in the cold weather with a thermal underneath. Love these tops.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light and stretchy Great light, loose fitting top. I wear it for running when it's a little cooler in the mornings, but also light enough to wear as a sun / breeze protection top when hiking. It's my favourite too. Wish it was available in other brighter summer colours.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect hot-weather hiking shirt. I bought this shirt for a specific purpose - hiking the Bright Angel Trail from the Colorado River up to South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Hiking in July (USA summer), the temperature was 40-45 degrees celsius. (HOT!!) Our hike was 16km and 1600m vertical elevation, much of it in direct sunlight. I needed a white long-sleeve shirt to protect from the sun, but it was vital that it was a light fabric & would help keep me cool. This was the PERFECT hiking shirt. I had thought that the long-sleeves would bother me, and had a singlet as a back-up; no need. The technology in the material somehow utilised my sweat to keep me cool - I had read the claims on the tags that it would do this, but I didn't believe it until I experienced it. I thought the sweaty clothes would cling to me but instead they remained light and best of all, cool! The hood is a stroke of genius - halfway up the trail I put my hat in my backpack and simply hiked the rest of the way with the hood up. It eliminated the 'hat band' heat, kept my head & neck protected from the sun, and allowed what little breeze there was to circulate around my head and neck. When we came to a tap I simply put my head under the water, hood and all, and it was fantastic. The shirt is a little worse for wear now as my pack has caused some discolouration on the back of it - but this would not show up on a darker coloured shirt. For me, white was essential in the Arizona desert summer heat! This shirt was worth every cent and more. Oh - and we completed the Bright Angel Trail in 4 hours and 4 minutes - smashing our goal of 5 hours!
