Now: $ 149.98

The Mono is a lightweight, one-person (or cosy for two), tunnel shape tent that packs down small and is quick and easy to set up. Suitable for three-season hiking or cycle touring, with its small 'footprint', the Mono can fit in limited spaces other tents can't. It's your own personal shelter, and the right tent to choose if pack-space, weight and ease are your main concerns.

Mono 1 Person Tent v2 - Sand is rated 3.96 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little tent for pitching in narrow places I have an earlier version of this tent which I take backpacking up mountains to camp in tiny spots on top and it does the job perfectly, you can pitch it in such a tiny place, but being very tall (6'2") I find it impossible to sit up and it which makes it very difficult to get dressed or undressed and I have to get outside, which on tops of mountains is frequently inhospitable for temperature to be changing clothes and not to mention having your clothes blow away! So I wish it was a bit taller, but that aside, it is lightweight and does not weigh my pack down too much and enables me to stay overnight in places where a bigger tent would not fit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Happy enough I've had one of these since 2010 (its the V1, but it looks like not much has changed). It is a simple, sturdy tent that can be dumped in the bush without too much worry about damage. Unlike the other reviewers, I find the Mono very heavy at 1.8 kg: this is 200 g heavier than my 2-person tent, and double the weight of my hennessy hammock. However neither of those are as tough as the Mono, and both cost a LOT more. I probably wouldn't buy another Mono, and I've moved on now and tend towards the big $ ultralight end of the market, but I have absolutely no regrets about buying it as a first solo tent. To be honest, I can barely tel mine's been used after 4 years of regular use. Not bad at all.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does the job I bought this one last-minute for the Overland track in Tasmania as my 'usual' tent is a two-person, which I didn't have need for on this occasion (in terms of the extra size/weight). The Mono is reasonably light, and packs down reasonably well. The issue I had is that the inner 'droops' quite badly between the two poles, and tensioning the outer sides of the poles really doesn't help much. Hence, while the outer looks quite nice and taut, the inner space is significantly smaller than it would appear. This is amplified by the fact that the Mono is already quite a 'short'/low tent. For the price, I would still buy it again as it fills the need, but I'll keep using my larger two-person tent where the extra kg doesn't matter on shorter hikes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good doer I've used this tent in the Grampians and the High Country in the warmer months and it's a good value doer that's easy and light weight. It's soundly waterproof, quick to put up and take down as well as pack down to a wee size for stuffing inside my pack. It is snug for my 6"1' height but only feels small to me when confined to it in inclement weather. It's snug so forget about having your pack inside the tent with you. I recognised this when buying it and also bought a waterproof cover for my pack. It's a top 3-season hiking tent for the price of it. I've given mine a bit of a battering in the last year and it's still going strong.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good as a first hiking tent I bought this tent several years ago. (green/grey one, maybe v1?) <Pros> -Reasonably light & compact -Extremely simple and quick to set up due to its simple structure and colored poles -Easy to pack up with the plastic buckle on the bag -Enough space so I can always keep my backpack etc in the tent -Handy hooks & pockets inside <Cons> -Can't sit up even under the highest point, I wish the max height was 30-40cm taller like microlight single pole tents in the market so that I can get change easily in the tent/get in and out easily (if this point is improved, I would buy it again) -It doesn't stand without pegs (I couldn't use it in a cave) Overall it's a good one as a first solo hiking tent! :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for hiking, cycling or paddling I've had this tent for a while, but took it for it's first spin last weekend. And boy! Was I impressed! It easily fit into my kayak hatch (of only a 30cm hole diameter) and kept me dry all night - no condensation issues at all. We were roughing it on a riverbank full of twigs, rocks and the like and this little tent stepped up to the effort. What also made the trip comfy was my Kathmandu Camper sleeping bag and Kathmandu bed roll. Paddle camping? Nah, it felt more like paddle glamping to me! Oh - and the tequila attached to my front deck in the Kathmandu drink bottle with carabiner - just perfect for sitting around the fire and warming the insides of a night time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tent Plenty of space for my sleeping mat and gear. Small enough to squeeze into the bow of my kayak. Only gripe is being 6 foot tall, its impossible to sit up and tricky to crawl into/out of. Otherwise very cosy, quick to set up and haven't had any condensation issues yet.
