DWR Durable Water Repellency

A Durable Water Repellent (DWR) finish bonds to the textile fibres to make them water resistant by forcing water to bead on the surface and therefore preventing water from saturating the fabric.

It is important to either tumble dry or iron garments (according to the care instructions) after washing as this restores the DWR of the face fabric. If water fails to bead up on the surface of your cleaned and tumble-dried garment, its DWR treatment has reached the end of its useful life. The result is a damp and clammy feeling as if your garment were leaking, even when it's not. We recommend applying a water repellency restorative treatment such as Nikwax TX Direct Spray On.

GORE-TEX® 3 Layer Fabric

A GORE-TEX® membrane is laminated to a highly durable outer fabric as well as a protective knit liner fabric. Ideal for outerwear where durability is a primary concern.

GORE-TEX® products are not only built to last, they're easy to take care of, too. Routine care and maintenance will ensure the highest performance from them and extend their useful lifespan.

It’s critical that you clean your GORE-TEX® products frequently, relative to the level of use and even if your garment does not appear soiled. Dirt, perspiration, body oils and sunscreens can build up over time and affect your product's performance.

Follow the manufacturer’s recommended care instructions, which are typically found on an inside tag, and your GORE-TEX® products will be ready to go when you are.

GORE-TEX® fabrics are also treated with a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) that makes water bead up & roll off, ensuring maximum performance in extreme conditions. Unlike other fabrics that can lose their waterproofness after laundering, GORE-TEX® remains waterproof, windproof & breathable.
